Minneapolis Mural Spot Light
This beautiful mural is located on Nicollet and 42nd Street below the Curran's Restaurant parking lot. The artists are listed in image above.
Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder
Oh nothing like an amazing stir fry to make your day. This one consisted of carrots, greens, onions, garlic, celery, bell peppers, green beans, and turnips. The sauce had maple syrup, soy sauce, and olive oil. I feel so much better when I remember to eat nutritious meals throughout the day, how about you? Talk about a boost to your energy level and emotional body.
Healing Transformation 4-20
Today I focused on making small changes to the piece. The areas I worked were: the child's face, the coloring on the face, the nose, the hands, the shape of the arms of the child, and the eagles above. The color looks quite different, but that is primarily from taking the picture later in the day. However I did lighten the water below the hands also today. I'm feeling confident that with a few more changes, I will be able to call it done.

Healing Transformation
So today at my Wise Women Art Group in Minneapolis I received some fabulous feedback on my painting. The suggestion was to pull the babies leg forward, reduce the image of the horse, and lighten up the hands. You may also notice I tweaked the shape of the hands prior to today.
When I was posing for some students at the Atelier College in Minneapolis for a portrait, I was able to listen in on the critique made by one of their advisers. He said when you first approach your work on a new day when you are fresh, review the drawing and make sure it is correct, find those areas that need tweaking, make quick changes, and move on. Great advice from a Master Painter, Jeff Larson.
The Process of "Healing"
This is an acrylic piece I call, "Healing" and I've been working on this contract illustration for quite some time. I decided to challenge myself with a combined difficult subject for this one including: restricting color (which is not an easy task for me), drawing babies, and painting the human hand.
Art Inspiration
So yesterday I was walking with my friend Henni around Powderhorn park in Minneapolis and we were discussing documenting our lives in some form. She shared with me the idea of Blogging about art and my artwork and I was excited by the idea. I've been noticing the murals around the city and how much joy they bring me especially in the stark gray asphalt urban tundra. So part of my goal is to share the beauty I see in the world with a wider audience, share my process of art creation, and also highlight great artists in the Twin Cities and abroad.
